Construction work has started on a new metro station at Shivaji Stadium in New Delhi. The station will be part of the upcoming 9.9-km Central Vista corridor and is expected to improve metro connectivity in central Delhi. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) began construction on Tuesday, August 25.

The new Shivaji Stadium station will be an important interchange point because it will connect with the existing Airport Express Line. The upcoming corridor will run underground and will have nine stations. It will extend the metro network from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg towards Indraprastha, providing better connectivity to several important areas in central Delhi.
The Central Vista corridor is expected to make travel easier for people visiting major government offices, courts, tourist attractions and other important locations. The new route will include stations near places such as Central Secretariat, India Gate, the Supreme Court, Bharat Mandapam and Indraprastha.
How will Delhi's Shivaji Stadium Station Benefit Passengers?
Shivaji Stadium station will be especially important because of its interchange facilities. It will allow passengers travelling on the Airport Express Line to connect more easily with the new corridor. A dedicated subway has also been proposed between Shivaji Stadium and Rajiv Chowk. This facility is expected to make it easier for passengers to travel between the Airport Express Line and the Blue Line at Rajiv Chowk.
The new corridor will also provide additional connections with other metro lines. Passengers will be able to interchange with the Yellow and Violet lines at Central Secretariat and with the Blue Line at Indraprastha. This is expected to reduce travel time and provide more route options for commuters.
The project is part of Delhi's continuing efforts to expand its metro network and improve public transport. Once completed, the Central Vista corridor is likely to make commuting through central Delhi more convenient, especially for office workers, tourists, students and people travelling to major public institutions.
