As Raksha Bandhan is one of the most popular festivals in India, and many people travel to their hometowns to celebrate with their brothers, sisters, and other family members, trains often become crowded during the festival, while waiting lists for regular services increase quickly.
Raksha Bandha Special Trains
To handle the expected rush, Indian Railways has announced 47 special trains for Raksha Bandhan 2026. More services may be added as different railway zones announce their schedules.
Among the confirmed services are trains connecting important cities in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi. The Bhopal-Rewa route will have special services. Train 02155 Bhopal-Rewa Superfast Special will leave Bhopal at 10:25 pm and reach Rewa at 7:20 am the next day. It will operate on August 25. Its return service, 02156 Rewa-Bhopal Superfast Special, will leave Rewa at 6:35 pm on August 26 and arrive in Bhopal at 4:30 am the following day. Another Bhopal-Rewa service, train 02189, will run on August 26 and 27.
A special train between Jabalpur and Hazrat Nizamuddin will also operate. Train 01701 will depart Jabalpur at 8:20 pm on August 29 and reach Hazrat Nizamuddin at 2:25 pm the next day. The return service, 01702, will leave Delhi at 3:45 pm on August 30 and reach Jabalpur at 9:30 am on August 31.
The Kota-Hazrat Nizamuddin route will also get special services. Train 09803 will run from Kota on August 22, 24 and 26, while train 09804 will operate from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Kota on August 23, 25 and 27.
Passengers travelling during Raksha Bandhan should check the latest information on IRCTC and NTES before booking, as timings and services may change. More special trains could also be announced closer to the festival.
