Chennai Power Cut on July 4, 2026: Tirumudivakkam and Kundrathur Among Areas to Face Power Outage

Residents in parts of Chennai should prepare for a scheduled power interruption on Saturday, July 4, 2026, as Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) carries out routine maintenance work across selected localities.

According to the official maintenance schedule, electricity supply will remain suspended from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM in areas under the Tirumudivakkam and Kundrathur distribution zones. The shutdown has been planned to facilitate maintenance of the power distribution network, and supply is expected to be restored before 2:00 PM if the work is completed ahead of schedule.

Why Is There a Scheduled Power Cut?

The temporary shutdown has been scheduled to enable maintenance of the electricity distribution infrastructure. Such works are carried out periodically to inspect equipment, improve network reliability and minimise the risk of unexpected power disruptions in the future.

Advisory for Residents

People living in the affected areas are advised to charge mobile phones, laptops, inverters and other essential electronic devices before the scheduled shutdown. Businesses and those working from home should plan important tasks in advance to avoid inconvenience.

According to the maintenance notice, electricity supply is expected to resume before 2:00 PM if the maintenance work is completed as planned. However, restoration may vary depending on operational requirements.
