Harike Wetland, located along the Ferozepur-Amritsar border, spreads over an area of 86 sq km, approximately. Owing to its international appeal, this wetland was declared a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1999. This land was also given the status of a Ramsar Site by the International Body of Wetlands in 1990, under the UNDP.

It serves as home to a large number of migratory birds, including those coming from Siberia and Arctic during winters. The Wigeon, Shoveller, Common teal, Pintail and Brahminy duck can be seen here. The lake is a popular site for spotting crested pochard, common pochard and tufted duck.

Tourists can see around 7 varieties of turtles and 26 varieties of fish at this place. Mammals like the Indian otter, Indian wild boar, jungle cat, jackal and mongoose can also be seen by visitors.
